Porta Coeli complex - new use of selected objects

The topic of the diploma thesis was to develop a proposal for the restoration of the Porta Coeli complex in the village of Předklášteří near Tišnov. The complex is a very valuable place dominating the whole village and is also the only functioning female Cistercian monastery in the Czech Republic. The complex contains many buildings, some of which are used for religious purposes or have a cultural social function, but some buildings are unused or even decaying. Based on the analyses there were selected some buildings for processing. There is granary, sheepfold, farm building, II. quadrature and cider house. All the buildings were processed in the winter semester, for my thesis I chose a granary, sheepfold and a new building located near the sheepfold. The aim of my proposal was to create a place for social and cultural events.
The History of Waldsassen Abbey since its Foundation to 1420 in Relation to Rulers of Bohemia and to the Cistercian Order

Annotation/Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the history and the development of cistercian abbey in Waldsassen since its origin in 1133 to 1420. This year is upper time limit of this thesis. This thesis should cover the reasons of foundation of this monastery, its imfluence, power in the Cheb region and his financial and economic relations and also changes inside monastic community. Important are social relations among particular members of the convent, especially part of the abbot like director of the monastery is pointed out. Author attempted to show connections of abbey in politics and participation off its members in the forming of history of Central Europe. Although Waldsassen was active in the Holy Roman Empire and developed its relations with the territories of Empire (Bavaria, Upper Palatinate, Egerland), it had the connections to the lands of the Crown of Bohemia and their rulers as well. It is the reason, why the most extensive chapter of this thesis is the fourth one about own history of abbey, the fifth one describes the relations of monastery with the czech sovereigns, but the connections of rulers of lands of the Crown of Bohemia were usually more feeble than these with the rulers of Roman empire.
Comparative study: Economies of Obazine and Plasy Monasteries in the Middle -ages (12.-13. century)

The thesis focuses on the economy of the Cistercian Order, from its inception until the end of the 13th century. There are two parallel analysis of monasteries Obazine (France) and Plasy (Bohemia), which are compared in the final part of the research. First the study present foundation of monasteries in the historical context of the country and the region. Then he focuses on the process of acquiring property and attempts to reveal common and different features in the economic development of the courts and farming. The work may present the real situation only to the extent that it allows the historical sources. The main historical source is cartulary of Obazine and documents of Plasy from Codex diplomaticus et epistolaris regni Bohemiae. In addition, the study draws information from various foreign and czech literature.
Abbey gravestones in the cloister Vyšší Brod

This thesis is devoted to abbatial tombstones, which are located in the monastery Vyšší Brod. The criterium of the selection of this abbatial tombstones was the state of conservation of the gravestones allowing their historical, epigraphic and art processing between 1463 1695. The work is developed and based on the methodology by PhDr. Jiří Roháček, PhD. It also includes an outline of the historical background of the Cistercian order also contains a history of this monastery. The aim of this work is to create a detailed treatise processing abbey tombstones.

This bachelor thesis is about changes of the Cistercian Order in the year 1939-1945 on the background of the dramatic events of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. It will analyze relationship between Nazism and Cistercian institution and other orders in broader context, thesis will also mention Cistercian Order as being exposed to numerous growing repression and persecution. Thesis will be interesting contribution about the changing ecclesial structures and civil society in the first half of the 20 th century.
The Second Life of the Cistercian Monastery at Plasy (1623 - 1785): Provostry at Mariánská Týnice and Chapel of the Name of Mary at Mladotice in Manifestation of the Order Festivities

The present thesis focuses at analysing the development of the Cistercian monastery in Plasy during the Baroque period, as well the monastery festivities, which belonged among important events of the monastery's everyday life, being an inseparable part of routine within the renewed monastery structure and new sacral foundations. The thesis is structured into five chapters, each analysing a particular part of the present topic. The first chapter maps the spiritual and social development of the Cistercian Order and its activities in the Czech Lands, and describes the specifics of the Order liturgy. The adoration of Our Lady has been an inseparable part of the Cistercian devotion and, as such, has become the topic of one of the chapters of the present thesis. Plasy monastery's abbots, the elected superiors of the order, were closely tied to the renewal of the monastery, applying their artistic ambitions to the reconstruction. The major focus of the whole thesis is set on the linkage of primary sources to the individual aspects of life of the Order, such as the Order liturgy, the issue of the foundation stones, or the apotheosis of the newly built structures by Giovanni Battista Santini-Aichel. St. Jakob's Church in Prague - Zbraslav

St. Jacob's church in Prague-Zbraslav [manuscript] : bachelor's thesis/ Dominik Šipr ; supervisor: PhDr. Petra Oulíková, PhD. - Prague 2014. - 70s. The topic of this bachelor's thesis is the interior of the St. Jacob's Church in the area of the Cistercians' monastery Aula Regia in Prague - Zbraslav, which was founded by king Wenceslas II in 1291 as a necropolis for the last Premyslides. During the Gothic period the monastery had a four- aisle church with a cloister. In 1420 the monastery was invaded and destroyed by the Hussites. The rebuilt of the monastery began in the beginning of the 18th century (Jan Blažej Santini Aichel, František Maxmilián Kaňka) It was planned to build a church in the monastery compound but it was not realised, the community of monks used the current St. James church. Its interior decorations were made by sculptor Ignác František Platzer and sculpturists from Jan Jiří Bendl's workshop. Pictures were painted by Petr Brandl, Karel Škréta and Giovanni Baptista Piazzeta. In 1785 the monastery was dissolved by Josef II and transformed into a sugar refinery and brewery.
